Germán Llorca Abad holds a BA in Audiovisual Communication (1998) and an MA in Audiovisual Production Management (2000). In 2007 he earned a PhD in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Valencia. He is Associate Professor in Communication at the University of Valencia, where he has been teaching since 2002. He has worked at various communication companies and media outlets, including Canal 9. He launched the news site aramultimedia.com and served as director for five years. He is the author of the book of essays Dictaduras de Velocidad y Lucidez: una Modernidad sin excesos (Dictatorships of Speed and Light: a Modernity without Excess, unofficial translation), as well as numerous articles published in national and international communication journals. He has been visiting professor at the University of Saarlandes in Germany, the Austral University, the University of La Frontera and the University of Playa Ancha in Chile, and the Paulista University, the State University of Campinas and the Pontifical Catholic University in São Paulo, Brazil. He is also a member of the University of Valencia’s MediaFlows Research Group.
