María Iranzo Cabrera

Biography

María Iranzo Cabrera holds a bachelor,s degree (2005, National Mention) and a PhD in Journalism (2014) from the University of València (UV). Her thesis, about communicative strategies used by the satirical magazine El Papus (1973-1987) during Spanish Transition, was awarded in 2015 with the first prize on doctoral research (Asociación Internacional de Historiadores de la Comunicación) and the Lorenzo Gomis (accésit) from the Sociedad Española de Periodística. Currently she works as Associate Professor in the degree of Journalism at UV, where teaches Història de la Comunicació Social al País Valencià and directs End of Degree Thesis related to audiovisual reports. Iranzo is member of the Research project “Cambios en la empresa periodística: la estrategia del sensacionalismo. Su emergencia histórica en España y América (Argentina, México, Costa Rica)” (code CSO2015-66667-R) and expert on satirical communication, having previously worked as researcher in projects such as “El humor frente al poder: La Monarquía, el Ejército y la Iglesia a través de la comunicación satírica en la historia contemporánea de España (1930-1936 y 1975-1982), code CSO2011-27678, and “La risa periodística valenciana o la saga del doctor Cudol. Les publicacions periòdiques d’humor a la Comunitat Valenciana (1810-2006), code GV/2007/069. She has shown her works in different books and national congresses.
