Àlvar Peris Blanes (Valencia, 1976) holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Valencia, where he has been teaching in the Audiovisual Communication BA Program and in the Official Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Content and Formats since 2002. As a researcher, he primarily focuses on audiovisual format and content analysis, as well as identity-building through media. He has authored numerous scientific articles published in academic journals, monographs and books on communication, cultural studies and history. He has served as visiting professor at Duke University in the United States and the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. He works at the journals Carácters, Lletres Valencianes and Saó. He has also worked as a journalist at Ràdio 9, Valencia’s public radio station.
