Carmen María López Rico teaches Applied Communication in the Official Bachelor’s Degree in Event Organizing, Protocol and Institutional Relationships at the Mediterranean Institute for Protocol Studies (Miguel Hernández University of Elche). With a PhD in Journalism from Miguel Hernández University (2012), her research has focused on political communication, especially during election cycles. As visiting professor at the Autonomous University of Baja California in Mexico (UABC), she studied the American campaign from the perspective of the Mexican border. Combining this with her experience researching Spanish elections, her stay at UABC has allowed her to explore both the Mexican and Spanish media’s treatment of news during electoral processes. Moreover, her research has paid particular attention to Radiotelevisió Valenciana (RTVV), both as a fundamental part of her doctoral thesis and in later analyses on the station’s closure and reopening.
